Jump racing heads to the scenic Cartmel today, and the Warrior Down Novices’ Handicap Chase (2m5f, Class 4) looks like a cracking contest. ππΏ With 14 fences to clear and the ground riding soft, this is going to be a real test of stamina and jumping. Iβve got my eyes on two runners who bring strong form and could be ready to land the spoils. πͺπ
β 2pt win β Culligran (11/10)
π Culligran arrives off the back of a confident win at Newton Abbot, where she travelled smoothly and jumped with assurance on similar ground. Sheβs still unexposed over fences, improving with each run, and gets in here with a low weight and Kielan Woods retaining the ride.
π The step up in trip and soft ground should be no issue, and she looks like the type to go in again while sheβs still ahead of the handicapper. A solid option for punters who like a form horse in full flight. π
π¦ 1pt each way (3 places) β Am Still Here (9/2)
π΅ Donβt sleep on Am Still Here, who has finished runner-up on all three chase starts this season. Heβs knocking on the door and may just be ready to burst through it today. π
βοΈ Carrying just 10st 2lb with Sean Quinlan on board, heβs got the profile of a dangerous closer. He stays well, handles soft ground, and if the leaders go too hard early, heβll be there late to pick up the pieces. π¨
π‘ Verdict: Iβm siding with Culligran as the main bet, but Am Still Here offers real value as a backup. On this demanding track, having two live chances in the same race could pay dividends. Fingers crossed! π€π»
