After analysing tomorrow’s Flat cards across the UK, I’ve picked out five runners who look particularly well placed based on recent form, track suitability and tactical angles. There’s a mix of solid each-way value and strong win contenders, including a Listed filly in top form and a well-handicapped Lincoln winner returning to the AW. Here are Thursday’s selections:
🐎 Mr Professor – Newcastle 3:45 – 10/1, 0.75pt each-way (3 places)
Mr Professor returns to the AW after running well in higher-class turf handicaps. He’s a Lincoln winner dropped to a more manageable mark, and this 1m trip suits him perfectly. A solid each-way contender at a double-figure price.
🐎 Cape Sovereign – Newcastle 5:30 – 13/2, 1pt each-way (3 places)
Cape Sovereign has been knocking on the door in staying handicaps and is better than his latest effort at York suggests. Back at Newcastle with a favourable draw and a drop in class, he looks set to bounce back.
🐎 Sir Wootton – Leicester 8:30 – 8/1, 1pt each-way (3 places)
Sir Wootton showed promise over a similar trip last time and now drops into a weaker race with a useful apprentice taking off 7lb. This stiff 6f should play to his strengths, and he looks well-handicapped.
🐎 Beckford’s Folly – Newmarket 1:50 – 15/8, 2pt win
Beckford’s Folly shaped well on debut and looks likely to improve plenty for that run. Buick takes over today, and the yard has a great record with 2yo second-timers. Conditions look ideal on the July course.
🐎 Anthelia – Newmarket 3:35 – 10/3, 1.5pt win
Anthelia arrives in red-hot form after two impressive wins, and now steps into Listed company. She has the pace to handle this sharper test and remains open to further progress. A major player.
