Inside The Paddock Picks – October 29, 2025
For today’s card, our focus is on the 2m (2m3y) Greene King Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) at Ffos Las — nine hurdles, officially Good to Soft ground, and a competitive 10-runner field.
After reviewing the recent form and numbers, our two picks today on Inside The Paddock are Basilette and Hello Sweety. Both bring recent, verifiable progress and the kind of profiles that tend to perform well in these midweek handicaps.
Basilette (11/4 2pt WIN)
Basilette looks the reliable option, arriving off a well-deserved win at Fontwell that capped a consistent run of efforts (form: 428321). He carries 11-12 but remains on a fair OR 94, and his RPR 97 / TS 92 figures rank among the best in this field. Proven over the distance and effective on Good to Soft ground, he’s exactly the type who grinds it out when others fade. Trainer Seamus Mullins and jockey Daniel Sansom have been combining nicely this autumn, and continuity in the saddle is a plus. If he reproduces that last run, he’s the one they’ll all have to pass.
Hello Sweety (5/1 1pt ew 3 places)
Hello Sweety is harder to weigh up but arguably more interesting. She returned from a break with a solid third at Warwick, posting RPR 93 / TS 83, suggesting there’s still more to come. Now fitter, she drops into a winnable Class 5 off OR 76, carrying just 10-7 — a major pull at the weights. The addition of a second wind operation (w2) and tongue-tie should help her see out the trip more cleanly this time. Trainer Stuart Edmunds tends to find improvement on a horse’s second run back, and if she travels kindly early, she could well surprise a few at decent odds today.
