It’s another busy Wednesday at Wexford, with a mix of competitive handicap hurdles and chases to sink our teeth into. The ground is officially Good, so I’m leaning towards horses with proven cruising speed and enough stamina to handle a proper test over fences or hurdles. As always, I’m keeping things selective—only backing runners I genuinely think have the profile to win or hit the frame, not just “interesting ones” at a price.

If you’re wondering what kind of horses I usually avoid, check out my piece on the types I never bet on. It’ll give you an idea of why I’m passing on some of today’s favourites and giving a second look to others with solid foundations but longer odds. Now, let’s dive into four I’ll be backing today—including a quiet one from the Meade yard who might just outrun his price…

5:35 Wexford

2m4f (2m4f50y) Fleadh Cheoil Wexford Handicap Hurdle (4yo+)

🐴 Club Manager 13/2 (1pt e/w 4 places)

Club Manager shaped with promise when fifth over 2m at Downpatrick last time, and the step up to 2m4f could unlock more. Lightly raced and with a low mark of 84, he has room to improve, especially if ridden positively. His best RPR (116) shows there’s ability in the tank, and he gets a top 5lb-claimer in the saddle. Unexposed type with a chance in a wide-open handicap.

🐴 Colleen Danu 18/1 (0.75pt e/w 4 places)

Colleen Danu won a maiden hurdle over this trip last October and shaped well on return at Roscommon despite the ground being softer than ideal. She’s now back on better ground, which suits her running style. Off a workable mark and with a tongue-tie reapplied, she’s entitled to come on for her reappearance. Her trainer places them well, and she has course form. Not to be underestimated.

🐴 Tell Nobody Nothin 12/1 (0.75pt e/w 4 places)

Tell Nobody Nothin was a strong-finishing second over 2m4f at Downpatrick in May, showing that stamina is his strength. Things didn’t go to plan since, but he returns to hurdles and gets Donagh Meyler back on board. He has the best Timeform rating in the field (112) and a peak RPR of 118, so the ability is there if he puts it all together. Very solid each-way shout.

7:17 Wexford

3m1½f (3m1f70y) Traynors Of Wexford Handicap Chase (4yo+)

🐴 Tullyveery Lad 9/2 (1pt e/w 4 places)

Tullyveery Lad is lightly raced over fences and shaped with promise in his handicap chase debut at Downpatrick, staying on into fifth despite a big price. That run hinted at untapped potential, and now he’s back over the same trip on good ground, which suits his galloping style. With 16 fences to jump, his stamina and jumping technique will be key—and he looked assured last time. Big each-way player if he builds on that.
