There’s something special about summer jumps at Ballinrobe – a track that rewards tactical rides and horses who can travel sweetly before delivering a late punch. Today’s Good ground should suit those who like a smooth rhythm, and with the right pace scenario, we might see a few well-handicapped runners step forward. I’ve gone through the card and picked out three who look worth a second look in the 2m1f Broderick’s Electric Handicap Hurdle.

Finnicky Filly has hinted at ability in similar handicaps and could be well treated from a mark of 82. She enjoys a sound surface and should get that here with Good ground. Carrying a light weight, she can sit close to the leaders without expending too much energy. If her jumping holds up, she has the late kick to trouble the main contenders.

Pleasureofpressure is lightly raced for his age and runs from the bottom of the weights off a mark of 81. He has shown glimpses of form and could improve with Good ground helping him travel more comfortably. The drop back to just over 2 miles should suit, and if given a patient ride, he could come with a strong late run to challenge in the final furlong.
