Today’s race at Worcester offers an intriguing Class 5 handicap chase over 2m4f with 13 fences to jump and decent ground conditions. I’ve identified three horses I like in the field, and while this isn’t a race I’m including in my official monthly tally — since I’m highlighting multiple selections — they’re all worth keeping onside. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

1:10 Worcester

2m4f Pershore Hire Centre Handicap Chase (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-105)

🟩 Isocrate 9/1 (1pt e/w 3 places)
A recent chase winner over this trip, Isocrate boasts the highest Topspeed in the field and a solid Racing Post Rating of 110. Trained by the O’Neill yard and partnered with Richie McLernon, he’s shown he can stay and handle the pace. If he repeats his latest form, he’s a big threat off top weight.

🟨 Fat Sam 6/1 (1pt e/w 3 places)
A consistent performer with back-to-back placings, Fat Sam comes into this in solid shape. He’s proven at the distance, rated 111 RPR, and rarely runs a bad race. With ideal ground conditions and stamina assured, the experienced 11-year-old has every chance of getting his head in front for a deserved win.

🟦 Dexter 26/19 (2pt win)
Dexter ran a cracker on stable debut when second earlier this month, and now returns quickly with fitness guaranteed. That 111 RPR stands out, and with Henry Brooke booked again for a trainer in fine form, he looks poised to go one better. The good ground suits, and he could prove tough to beat.

While today’s Class 5 chase at Worcester is far removed from the glamour of top-level racing, these lower-grade contests often provide excellent betting angles — and I’ll be keeping a close eye on how Isocrate, Fat Sam, and Dexter perform.
